Alfredas Butkus, 81, of Sebastian, FL, peacefully passed away at home on Saturday, October 1st, 2022 , after a difficult battle with Alzheimer's and kidney failure. He was the beloved husband of Denise Butkus, they shared 46 wonderful years of marriage together.
Al was born on March 15, 1941 in Plunge, Lithuania. He came to the United States of America when he was 8 years old. In 10th grade he joined the US Army serving in the Vietnam War. While in the military he became an accomplished chef, which carried on unto his very last days. Al was a legendary commercial roofer during all his working years, it was his honor to share this trade with his son Adrian Butkus.
Al enjoyed camping, fishing in his boat, and all outdoor activities with his family. He is fondly remembered by many for his cooking, especially for his famous clam chowder and homemade Chinese food. Al delighted in preparing meals for others and always loved a good lobster. He also enjoyed training dogs and had a special bond with his basenji, Joey. Al was the protector, provider, and comedian with his boisterous sense of humor.
Al is survived by his wife Denise Butkus, daughter Jeniece Jackson (Keith Jackson), son Adrian Butkus (Mindy Butkus), grandchildren, Harlie Seymour (Jacob Seymour), Cody Butkus (Mary Butkus), Caden Butkus, Mykolas Jackson, and great grandchild, Cody Butkus Jr. He is also survived by his brother Andy Allen (Judy Allen) and sister Ruth Allen.
The memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 11th at Full Gospel Sons of God church, located at 1665 Harrisburg Pike Columbus, OH 43223. Visitation hours are 4:00 – 6:00 pm with the service beginning at 6:00 pm. Immediately following the service, family and friends are invited to join for refreshments in the fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations to help cover expenses are appreciated.
