Allan G. Hlavac of Sebastian, FL passed away peacefully at the VNA Hospice House on April 3, 2019.  He was born on May 5, 1936 in Sayville, NY to George and Helen Hlavac.  After graduating from Sayville High School and Farmingdale Junior College in Long Island, NY he pursued further education graduating from the University of Mass and RPI in Troy, NY in the chemistry field.  On October 11, 1958 at Sacred Heart Church in Pittsfield, MA Allan married Joan M. Thornton, with Msg. Henry Burke officiating.  The couple celebrated their 60 ^th wedding anniversary last year.  Allan began his career with General Electric in Pittsfield, MA working with Dr. Daniel Fox, the inventor of Lexan.  He then worked for Sterling Winthrop Research Institute as a chemist in the pharmaceutical field in Rensselaer, NY for over 30 years, he traveled with the company when it was sold to Kodak, moving to Birdsboro, PA and working in Collegeville, PA for another 6 years before retiring. Allan was active in the Republican Party in Columbia County, NY, and was on the board of directors for the Columbia County Little League.  Allan enjoyed his retirement in the Sunny State of Florida.

Allan was preceded in death by his son, Allan John; brothers, Gareth and Dennis; and his parents, Helen and George Hlavac.  He is survived by his loving wife, Joan; children, Pamela Caggianelli (Joseph), Andrew, Audrey Aube, Richard, Elizabeth Barrett (Daniel) and Christopher (Liz); 15 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.

At Allan's request, there will be no service; burial will take place and the convenience of the family.
