Arthur R. Jones, 80, of Sebastian, Florida, passed away on August 26, 2012.
He was born on January 21, 1932, to the late Arthur G. Jones and Josephine M. Werle in New Haven, Connecticut. He was retired from Martin Marietta in Orlando, Florida.
As a young boy he became a Boy Scout and was awarded the achievement of Eagle Scout at the age of 14. He graduated from West Haven High School where he excelled in academics, swimming and then later attended college at Rhode Island School of Design.
His early working career with Raytheon allowed him to use his engineering skills in the support of the Hawk and Sparrow missile programs. He continued his career employed with many major manufacturing businesses including IT&T for 13 years in many senior Engineering management and Director roles.
He was fortunate to retire early in life which he spent enjoying many passions such as his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, the New England Patriots, Gin Rummy, crossword puzzles, metal detecting, sketching and handy man projects for family, friends and neighbors.
Mr. Jones was of Catholic faith. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corp reserve, 1950 - 1954.loyal to his country and to the corp!
He was a devoted husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, brother and renowned patriarch of the Jones family.
Survivors include his loving and dedicated wife of 60 years, Elizabeth "Liz" Jones of Sebastian married on August 16, 1952; also, blessed with five children and their spouses: Curtis A. Jones, Arthur "Scott" Jones, Sherri and Ron Medler, Kathy and Doug Dearden and Beth Anne and Tim Koons who he dearly loved.
Also, surviving are ten Grandchildren and their spouses: Jonathan and Vanessa Jones, Benjamin and Heather Jones, Christina Dearden, Kimberly Dearden, Andrew and Ashtyn Jones, Christopher Jones, Steven Jones, Jennifer and Ryan Gallagher, Timothy Koons, Richard Koons and five Great-Grandchildren: Ryann and Findley Jones and MaKayla, Daniel and Gabriella Jones. Brothers and sisters-in-law Gerald and Barbara Jones, Ronald and Paula Jones; his dear friends Bob and Brenda Connell, Tony and Mary DeNigris, Greg and Irma Golien and Doctor Timothy and Elizabeth Sigman.
He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur G. Jones, mother Josephine W. Jones and step-mother, Elsie Jones.
The family will be available during the viewing on Saturday, September 1, 2012, at 12 noon - 2:00 p.m. at the Seawinds Funeral Home and Crematory.
