Barbara Stone Mackiewicz age 79 died October 26, 2016 at the VNA hospice in Vero Beach with her family by her side. Barbara resided with her husband Walter in Barefoot Bay, Florida. Married for 60 years and originating from Connecticut they spent their retirement years with friends and family in both states.

Barbara was born in Hartford, CT to the late Emil and Susan Stone. Barbara grew up and went to school in Rocky Hill, CT.

Barbara worked for many years at CCARC in New Britain, CT working with disabled adults retiring in 1999.

Barbara was a member of First Lutheran Church of the Reformation in New Britain, CT. She belonged to the Plainville Senior Center and had been a past member of Royal order of the Moose.

Barbara is survived by her husband Walter of 60 yrs and her children Walter Mackiewicz, Jr. and his wife Laurie of FL, Brenda Gannon of WI, Wayne Mackiewicz and his wife Dyann of CT, and Betsy Witkowski of CT.

She leaves behind her grandchildren Shayne Mackiewicz and his wife Allie of CT, Kailie Gannon of WI, Kristin Gannon Hildebrand of GA, Corey Gannon , Saxxon Mackiewicz, of CT and Breanna Witkowski, CT.

She leaves great grandchildren Sorcha Gehl of WI, Zoey Gannon of GA and Iselyne Mackiewicz of CT.

She leaves her brother Emil Stone of Florida, brother in laws Henry Mackiewicz, and Edward Mackiewicz and his wife Angie; and sister in law Margery Mackiewicz, and is pre deceased by her sister Susan Stalvey and parents Emil and Susan Stone and her brother-in-law, Chester Mackiewicz.

She leaves her beloved nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and her many cousins.

A celebration of Life for Barbara will be held in Connecticut at a later date.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The American Diabetes Foundation or National Kidney Foundation in Barbara's honor.
