Obituary

Barbara Ann Pease Olson passed away on Sunday, January 26 2014 at Sebastian River Medical Center.

Barbara was born in Baltimore, MD on May 20, 1936. She grew up in Cranford, NJ & attended Muhlenberg school of nursing in Plainfield, NJ. She & her husband ventured out west & lived extensively throughout the southwest & CA. Barbara's "highlights" were having the unique opportunity to raise her children on the Navajo Indian reservation in Window Rock, AZ & living in the bay area in Alameda, CA.

Barbara worked as an RN in the areas of labor & delivery and later geriatrics. She loved her patients & acquired many stories & long-lasting special memories from these various work experiences.

Barbara enjoyed a vast range of activities from hiking, camping, & power walking to cooking, reading & spending any time she could with her family. One of her great pleasures was traveling & she was blessed to be able to travel the world extensively. She also had a great love for theater & the arts of any kind & was passionate about cultural activities. Barbara went to great lengths to make sure her family took advantage of many cultural opportunities all over the country.

Though family was clearly her first priority, Barbara did volunteer anywhere she could over the years! She did many "behind-the-scenes" acts of support including volunteering at schools, organizing cookies for Girlscout cookie sales, picking up the phone to call someone who was ill or homebound. Barbara worshiped at Community Baptist Church in Sebastian. She loved her church & was on the missions board there as she had a special heart for missions. She received immeasurable & sustaining support & love from her church family!

She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Edward Olson Jr. of Sebastian, FL; her mother, Kathleen Breithaupt of Deerfield Beach, FL; her son, Rolf Olson of Wellington, FL; her daughter, Kristin Best & husband, Brett Best of Melbourne, FL; her grand-children: Autumn, Kyndl, Anita, Sage & Danielle; her great-grandson,Talyn.

She will be sorely missed by all. Her family is grateful for the many wonderful memories she spent her life creating! Her family is at peace knowing she is now in the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ.

Barbara's desire would be that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the missions program at Community Baptist Church in Sebastian, Florida at 12534 Roseland Rd. Sebastian, FL 32958. phone (772)388-3787.
