Barbara Susan Twichell, 72 of Sebastian, FL passed away unexpectedly on February 6, 2019 surrounded by her family and friends.

Barb was born on October 29, 1946 in Buffalo, NY to Arthur and Esther Aures.  She graduated from Lake Placid High School in Lake Placid, NY where she met her husband and father of her children, Douglas Twichell.  After raising her children Barb returned to school to become a Registered Nurse.  She worked for Strong Memorial Hospital then VNS.  In October 2000 Barb left New York for Vero Beach, FL to help take care of her mother.  While in Vero she continued working as a private duty nurse.  After the passing of her mom, Barb moved to Sebastian, FL to be closer to her daughter and son-in-law.  She joined the Sebastian Elks Lodge in 2017 and although her time was short she made a tremendous impact.  She volunteered her time planning events and recruiting new members.  Barb loved spending time with her family and friends, and always enjoyed a good cruise.

Barb is survived by her former spouse and life long friend, Douglas Twichell; children, Wendy (Dan) Curtice, and Todd Twichell; grandson, Bradley Twichell; sister, Donna (Sherman) Sawyer; nieces, Rachel Brown and Erica Stephens; and many friends.

Family and friends will honor Barbara's life by gathering for a Celebration of Life at The Sebastian Elks Lodge #2714, 731 S Fleming Street, Sebastian, FL 32958, on Sunday, February 17, 2019 at 2:00 pm.
