IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Beatrice "Bea"
F Mckinney
February 26, 1930 – December 4, 2025
After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Beatrice "Bea" F. McKinney passed away peacefully on December 4, 2025, with her daughter Sharon by her side. This is the home she and Denny built in Sebastian. Heaven has gained another beautiful soul and bright light.
She was born in Detroit, Michigan on February 26, 1930. She married Dennis McKinney on June 19, 1953 and they lived in Clemens, Michigan later moving to Hamburg, Michigan. A graduate of Harper Grace Diploma Nursing Program, she had an exciting and varied nursing career working for the last 30 years at the University of Michigan Student Health Services, a career she loved.
In 1995 and following her retirement from U of M, they relocated to Sebastian, Florida, where she said she lived in paradise. Bea was an avid Bridge Player and up until her last year actively played with Park Place Bridge Group and at 94, occasionally won. She played in the ladies' golf league until her mid 80's and really enjoyed golfing, as well.
Her biggest hobby was watching the University of Michigan Football games, where she was often seen yelling at the TV helping the coaches and players to get the win. 6 days before she passed, she watched Ohio play Michigan, the loss was a disappointment, but she wasn't surprised.
She attended her grandchildren's graduations, then her great grandchildren's events whenever possible be it gymnastics, softball, volleyball, banquets etc. and was always their biggest fan.
She will always be remembered for her deep love of her family, her kindness, her wonderful laugh, her beautiful blue eyes and her giving nature.
Predeceased by her husband, Dennis A McKinney, her parents Frank and Dorothy (nee Budden) Steele, granddaughter, Kerilyn (Herman Ngom) Redish and a son in law, Michael Herman.
Survivors include daughter Sharon (Herman) McKinney of Sebastian, FL and son, Dennis (Linda) McKinney of Skokie, IL; grandchildren, Pamela Herman and Damien Scott of Dallas, TX, Thomas and Jennifer Herman of Sebastian Fl, Nicole and Carl Cooney of Mundelein, IL and Dennis Patrick McKinney of Chicago, IL; great grandchildren, Ava Rhea, Alexis Scott, Leighton and Katherine Scott, Reese Scott, William Herman, Gabriel Herman, Everette Cooney, Ryan Cooney, Cora Cooney, Kristina Kent, Kortney Kent, Erica Redish, Justin and Tessa Redish, Jensen Redish and Julia Redish; grandson in law, Jim Redish; niece, Lynn Albert Anderson Walker. She loved them all with her whole heart.
