Bernard "Mike" Garrison 89, passed on December 31, 2016. He was born in Washington, DC to Bernard Clark Garrison, Sr., and Cecilia Wills Cissel, and raised in Silver Spring, MD. Bernie was a WWII veteran who served in the US Navy Air Corps and a 70 year member of the American Legion, most recently at Charles L. Futch Post 189, Sebastian. Upon leaving the Navy after the war, he became a firefighter with the Silver Spring Fire Department before going to work for the Potomac Electric Power Company (PEPCO), headquartered in Washington, DC, and working out of the Rockville, MD office where he retired as a Lead Lineman with 33 years of service.
Bernie is survived by his wife of 44 years, Diane Lee Rowzee, daughters Donna (Tom), Virginia, Debra, and stepdaughter Nora (Matt). He was the proud grandfather of seven surviving grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Jane, and a niece, nephews and cousins.
As an active member at St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Church, Sebastian, Bernie served as a volunteer on the Building and Grounds Committee, a member of the Men's Club, and an usher at the 8 o'clock service. He also assisted the Episcopal Church Women at their annual rummage sales and other fund raising events.
Bernie's interests were fishing, travel, Civil War history, the Washington Redskins, Miami Dolphins and Gator football and any team coached by Steve Spurrier or Urban Meyer. An avid story teller, he loved sharing his fond memories of life's adventures with his grandchildren. He and Diane traveled the US and Canada for 6 years, living full time in their recreational vehicle. He traveled in all but one of the 50 states and travelled most of Europe and Central America. He will be sorely missed by those he left behind.

A memorial service at St. Elizabeth's is planned for Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 11:00 am. Arrangements are being handled by Seawinds Funeral Home, Sebastian, FL.
