Bernard Janssen's rich life came to an end on July 14, 2013, at the age of 73. He was born in Brooklyn NY on February 16, 1940.



He and his wife Carol have lived in Sebastian for the last 15 years, after moving to Florida from Smithtown NY.



He bravely served in the US Army during Vietnam, and later worked as a truck driver for Anheuser-Busch for 35 years.



He is survived by his wife and soul mate, Carol Janssen. They were married for 45 happy years. Together they had two loving children, Christine Jackman of Sebastian, FL & Michael Janssen of Massapequa Park NY. He has one son from his first marriage, Glenn Janssen, of West Virginia.

He was the loving grandfather to 3 beautiful grandchildren - Nicholas Jackman, 9 years old, and twins Jack & Joseph Janssen, 5 years old. Joseph went home to the Lord 6 weeks ago on May 6, 2013, and he was there to help welcome his Poppy to paradise.



Bernie was a fun-loving man who enjoyed life and loved his wife and children dearly. He will be deeply missed by all of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.



A memorial service will be held on Friday July 19 at 10:00 am at St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Church, located at 901 Clearmont Avenue, Sebastian, FL 32958. Arrangements are by Seawinds Funeral Home.



In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to St. Elizabeth's Church or to Hospice House.
