Bernard W. Sammons, lovingly known as Bernie, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2025, in Fort Pierce, Florida, at the age of 77. He was born on February 3, 1948, in Wilmington, Delaware, and lived a life marked by service, friendship, and a great sense of humor.

A proud veteran, Bernie served his country honorably in the United States Air Force. After his military service, he worked at Grand Harbor in Vero Beach and was a devoted member of both the Veterans of Foreign Wars (V.F.W.) and Amvets, where he found camaraderie and community.

Bernie enjoyed the simple pleasures of life—fishing, hunting, singing karaoke, and sharing unforgettable stories. He had a natural gift for making people laugh and was always ready to entertain a crowd with his songs and storytelling.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin J. and Mary E. Sammons; his sister, Rebecca Barnwell; and his brother, David W. Sammons.

Bernie is survived by his loving significant other, Nadine Claffey of Fort Pierce, FL; his daughter, Sheri L. Sammons of Wilson, NC; his son and daughter-in-law, William J. and Gigi Sammons; his granddaughters, Piper and Sydney Sammons of Raleigh, NC; and Brandy Crawford of Wake Forest, NC, a cherished part of his family. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many dear friends who will miss him deeply.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Bernie's honor on: Friday, August 29, 2025, at 6:00 PM Amvets Post #15 2024 S. U.S. Highway 1 Fort Pierce, FL 34950

Bernie will be remembered for his generous spirit, his love of a good story, and the joy he brought to those around him. His presence in our lives was a gift, and he will be forever missed.
