Betty G. Mitchell, 81, of Sebastian, died on November 12, 2016, after a long illness. She was born in Jersey City, New Jersey on August 22, 1935. She was a Florida resident for over forty five years, having spent the last twenty years in Sebastian. She was predeceased by her husband, James H. Mitchell, Sr. and a son, James H. Mitchell, III. Betty was one of the first female licensed insurance agents in the State of Florida and after twenty five years she eventually owned her own agency in Melbourne Beach. She loved gardening, was a gourmet cook and a political junkie and loved to write letters to the editors and elected officials. Betty is survived by her daughter, Beth, of Sebastian; Scott Mitchell, Juno Beach, Brady and Maria Mitchell, Hollywood and Jeff and Susan Mitchell, Jupiter. She also is survived by two grandchildren, Matt Dokey and Tatiana Mitchell, and three great grandchildren, Soulee, Gabriella and Dylan. A private family service is planned.
