Charles J. Areni, 82, of Sebastian, FL died Saturday, March 30, 2012 at the VNA/Hospice House in Vero Beach, FL.

Mr. Areni was born in Camden, NJ and moved to Sebastian 16 years ago from Jensen Beach.

He was a telephone switchman and in 1973 transferred from New Jersey Bell to Bell South in Jensen Beach, retiring in 1996. He was of the Catholic faith and a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the US Navy. Mr. Areni was an avid fisherman, a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and a Lifetime Member of the VFW.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years Gerry Areni of Sebastian, FL; two sons, Charles S. Areni of Sydney, Australia and Craig J. Areni of Orlando, FL, and three grandchildren, Shane, Jacqueline and Hailee.

Service: A private memorial service will be held ocean side. A celebration of his life will be shared with family and friends at a future date.
