Claude G Rivard, age 85, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2025 in Vero Beach, Florida. Claude was born April 19, 1940 in Shawinigan, Quebec to Albani Rivard and Jeanne d'Arc (Carier) Rivard. Losing his father at the age of one, he grew up in close proximity to his grandparents and extended family. He was educated in Quebec by the Jesuits at Loyola.

In 1978, Claude moved his family to Florida to pursue the "American Dream" and allow his children to become bilingual and have more opportunities in the United States. After having worked for Prudential, Claude established his own multi-products agency, Rivard Insurance Agency, in 1980 in Lake Worth, FL with one desk and a telephone. The business grew due to his strong work ethic and genuine concern for people. Claude retired in 2004 and turned the reigns of the agency to his son, Martin.

Claude remarried in 2001. Upon retiring, he and his wife, Joan, moved from Palm Beach County to Indian River to enjoy a slower pace of life. Claude loved nature and his fondest memories are the summers traveling in their 37' fifth wheel. After having visited 48 states and most of Canada, they sold their RV and purchased a home in the NC mountains to enjoy cooler summers.

Claude was a devout Catholic and was a third and fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an ecumenical minister and volunteered at various fund-raising functions including Bingo as well as helping distribute food at St Vincent de Paul.

Claude will be remembered most of all for his sense of humor and kindness. He is survived by his devoted wife, Joan; his children and their spouses, Martin Rivard, Denis Rivard, T.J. Cade, and Marie Weller; his step-children and spouses, Heather Alfonso and Scott Satterthwaite; 15 grandchildren and step grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren. Claude will be deeply missed by all who knew him and his legacy will live on through his family and the many lives he touched.

His family is deeply appreciative of the care provided to him by the staff at Certus Memory Care of Vero Beach and the VNA Hospice. A memorial service will be held at St Sebastian Catholic Church at a later date.
