Clayton "Clay" Dart, 69, was born on June 9, 1946, in Chicago, IL. He lived most of his life in California where he built and rode both motorcycles and race cars. He was well known at Madera Speedway during the 80's and 90's where he built and raced both 360 and 410 supermodified's. He was owner and operator of Dart Forklift for many years until poor health caused him to sell his business.

In 2006 he relocated to Cleveland, Ohio, where he received a lung transplant, affording him 10 more years to enjoy riding his Harley across the country, visiting old and making new friends. He eventually moved to Florida to enjoy the warm climate, and continued until about a year ago to ride the bike around the state, and mentor his granddaughter in racing go carts. There was always a "need for speed" within Clay that was as much a part of him as the air he sometimes struggled to breathe. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Fellsmere.

He was predeceased by his parents, Dr. and Mrs. Ed Dart. He is survived by his wife, Linda Dart of Sebastian, six children, Joshua, Toby, Melissa and Jennifer Dart, David Johns and Kelly Yates, as well as nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind a very close friend, Vince Brunk of Ohio and a beloved cousin Doug Rippey of Colorado, as well as 3 half sisters and 1 step-sister.

A memorial service for Clay will be held at the First Baptist Church in Fellsmere on Sunday evening May 15, 2016 at 6:00 pm which will be followed by supper in the Fellowship Hall. David Johns will officiate.
