Dennis Earl Hiers, 85 of Melbourne, Florida died peacefully on September 16,2018 after a heroic fight with cancer. He passed away with his family by his side. Denny was born to the late John and Edna Hiers on July 11, 1933 in Moultrie Georgia, and moved to Florida in 1956.

Denny was an active member of the Graceway Baptist church in Eau Gallie, Florida. He served in the Army in the 82 ^nd Airborne Division where he achieved a National Service Defense Medal.  He was a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge and the Lions club of Eau Gallie, Florida.

Denny owned and operated Cash Builders Supply of Eau Gallie, Florida for 25 years before retiring.

Denny is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Norie; sons, Dennis E. Hiers Jr. of Orlando, FL, James Edward Hiers of Okeechobee, FL, and Junior Atkinson of California; brothers, Bobby Joe Hiers of Vero Beach, FL, Lloyde Buford Hiers of Valkaria, FL and a sister, Tiney Hiers White of Sebastian, FL.  He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

Denny was preceded in death by his children, Denise Ann Gates, Willis Buford Hiers and Janice Faith Hiers, and also by the following brothers and sisters, Betty Ruth Hiers, A.J. Hiers, Inez E. Hiers, Doris Carter, and Alvin Leroy Hiers.

A visitation will be held on Thursday September 20, 2018 from 12:00- 1:00 P.M. at Seawinds Funeral Home, Sebastian, Florida. Followed by a Funeral at 1:00 P.M. Interment will follow at Sebastian Cemetery.
