Ethel Hammond Lane, 81 passed away February 13th, 2012 in Sebastian, FL. She was born December 6, 1930, in Hagerstown, IN, the daughter of the late Ellis and Betty Hammond. She graduated from Hagerstown High School. She was a majorette and was honored for her musical achievements. In later years she was a member of the Psi Iota Xi Sorority. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Orville Hammond and sisters Hazel Rybolt and Agnes Galletin.
She was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister. Her children were her pride and joy. She brought a ray of sunshine to all that knew her. She will be remembered for her poise, beauty and grace, loving touch, compassion, her laugh and most of all her gift of making everything fun.
She leaves to cherish her memory, Buddy Lane of Micco, FL, her husband of 60 years, daughter's Teresa Dees (Marlin) of Richmond, IN, Deborah Thompson (Mitch) of Charleston, SC, Karen Newkirk (Scott) of Micco, FL, Cathy Hurley (Dan) of Youngsville, NC and son, Joseph Lane (Tina) of Murrells Inlet, SC along with 7 grandchildren, 6 great grand children and her dog Duffy, all of whom she loved dearly and to whom she showed that love throughout her entire life.
The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to the staff of Sebastian River Medical Center and Hospice for the loving care and respect they provided her and the family in her final days.
Arrangements were entrusted to Seawinds Funeral Home & Crematory in Sebastian, FL. To honor Ethels wishes, no services will be held. Her husband and family held a private Celebration of Life in honor of her memory. Our Mimi, Our Babe, we'll keep your loving memory in our hearts forever.
