"The Mountains are calling and I must go"

Frank left us to climb Gods highest mountain on October 22, 2016. He leaves behind Shirley, his beloved wife of 64 years, two daughters Linda (and Bruce) Montefusco and Charlene Langford, three grandchildren Laura (and Jason) Powell, Jeremy and Jason Montefusco, great grandson Crew and his two brothers Robert (and Maureen) Muir and Paul (and Jo) Muir. He was predeceased by his sister Beverly.

Frank was born in Burlington, VT on April 15, 1932 to Francis and Irene Muir, the eldest of four children. He was stricken with polio at 4 years of age. While recovering, he began to learn to play the piano and music became a lifelong passion. He attended the New York Conservatory of Music and was proficient at playing the works of many classical composers. He was one of the musical talents in the group the Mellow Tones and played at numerous venues as well as the radio around the Burlington area.

Frank's early disability never stopped him accomplishing anything he put his mind to. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and appreciating the beauty of nature. His competitive nature led him to enjoy other challenges such as chess, model airplanes, ping pong and golf.

In 1988 Frank was very proud when he became a distinguished member of The Institute of Mensa. He worked for Pratt and Whitney in New Haven, Hartford and Southington, CT as Supervisor of Design Quality Engineering and retired in 1990 at the West Palm Beach Florida plant after 34 years of service. He received numerous awards of recognition and appreciation for his community works with the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, in Okeechobee, Jupiter and Sebastian Florida.

He left behind a legacy of strength of character and a family who loved him. The sound of his music will play on in our hearts and our minds forever.
