Vannoy
January 7, 1933 – March 1, 2019
George G. Vannoy, age 86, died of cancer on Friday, March 1 st 2019, at VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach, Florida. George is survived by his wife Marie Hoskins Vannoy, his daughter Carolyn Owens, his son Michael G. Vannoy, his granddaughters Amy McNamara and Emily Iantosca, and his two great grandsons. He is preceded in death by his mother, Lucille Palmer Vannoy, and father, George E. Vannoy of Gibbsboro, New Jersey. George was born on January 17 th , 1933 in Elko, Neveda. He graduated from Haddonfield Memorial High School in 1948 in Haddonfield, New Jersey. He then went on to graduate from Pennington Prep School before entering into the US Navy where he served as a Navy corpsman from 1950-1955. He also graduated from the Electronics Training Center Division of Radio Television Technical School in 1966. As well as having a successful career at RCA and Honeywell, he was also an accomplished jazz musician performing with the big bands of the 50s and 60s, including performing with Tommy Dorsy's Big Band and other various popular performers of the day. George was a loving father and husband. He was married to his wife, Marie, for 21 years and they had a wonderful life together. George was very active in the community and loved entertaining his friends and family by getting together with informal musical sessions. Besides have a professional career as a entertainer, he also volunteered his musical talents by playing for the Vero Beach Senior Center for many years. His family and friends will always remember him as an excellent tenor and baritone saxophone player, as well as a clarinet player. He was an avid dog lover, and he will be greatly missed by his dog, Bopper. A Memorial Service, with military honors will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at 3:00pm in the Seawinds Funeral Home, 735 S. Fleming Street, Sebastian with a reception to follow at a location to be determined. All are welcome to attend and celebrate George's life.
