Gerald B "Jerry" Fredlund died on May 15, 2012 at age 76 in Sebastian, Florida after a short illness. He was born August 27, 1935 in New Milford, Connecticut to Julius Axel Fredlund and Florence Elmira Brown Fredlund. After graduating from New Milford High School, Mr. Fredlund joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1954 where he attained the rank of Sergeant. He was honorably discharged in 1957. Mr. Fredlund worked as a lineman and installer for Southern New England Telephone Company and retired in 1987 after more than thirty years with the company. Mr. Fredlund was a dedicated member of the Free and Accepted Masons for over fifty years, twice serving as Grand Master of St. Peter's Lodge in New Milford, Connecticut, and more recently, as a member of the Masonic Lodge in Sebastian, Florida. He was also an active member of the Shriners, including, after his retirement, the Azan Shriners Center in Melbourne, Florida. An avid motorcyclist, Jerry was a fixture on the roads of Connecticut and Florida well into his seventies. He enjoyed country music, dancing and bowling. Jerry was a caregiver to a number of friends and family members in their senior years. His humor and heart made him a friend to many. He is survived by his three children, April Daryanani, Christal Preszler and Catherine Ferris, his sons-in-law Raj Daryanani and Todd Preszler, four grandchildren, Petra Daryanani and Julia, Scott and Nick Preszler, his brother, Gene Fredlund, Gene's children, Gene, Jr. and Cindy, two grand-nieces, and his dear friend, Evelyn Ricard. Friends and family are invited to share memories at the Preszler home, 14 Overlook Drive, Newtown, Connecticut on Saturday, May 19, 2012 from 2 to 4 pm. A ceremony will be held at Arlington National Cemetery later in the year.
