Obituary

Hanford Keith Codd , 85 of Barefoot Bay, passed away October 18, 2011, at his residence . He was born April 18, 1926 in Bruce Crossing Michigan, and moved to Indian River County 41 years ago from Northern Michigan.

He was the former owner of Anchor Restaurant , and the former owner of the Sugar Shack in Fellsmere. He was also the former chief of the Fellsmere Fire department . He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Moose Lodge, VFW and the American Legion all of Sebastian, Florida .

He served in the United States Army during WWII and the Korean conflict. He was a recipient of Two purple hearts and a Silver star.

He is survived by three sons Neil Codd of Mass City, Michigan, Rick Codd of Vero Lake Estates, and Steven Codd of Barefoot Bay, five daughters Barbara Hill of Rock Michigan, Darlene Hautala of Benson ,Arizona, Patricia Hall of Port Saint John, Denise Luke of Micco, and Gail Grant of Port Saint John.

He is survived by his two brothers Philip Codd of Eufaula, Alabama, Thomas Codd of Bruce Crossing, Michigan, his two sisters Anastasia Baptiste of Barefoot Bay and Bernadette Polvi of Atlanta Georgia, 16 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley and his son Michael .

A funeral mass will be held at Saint Lukes Catholic Church in Barefoot Bay, Florida on Monday October 24, 2011 at 11:00 AM. Military honors will follow.
