IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Hansjurgen Walter
Ernst Alshuth
November 8, 1926 – September 8, 2018
Melbourne Beach, FL - Hansjürgen W.E. Alshuth, loving husband, father and brother, passed away at the age of 91 years, on Saturday, September 8, 2018. Hansjürgen will be forever remembered by his wife Christa, and their children, Sabine and Peter and his son-in-law Dug, by his cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family and dear friends.
He was born and raised in Elbing, Ostpreussen (Germany) in a coastal home between the Baltic Sea and Kurisches Haff (lagoon). In his adult life he was a resident of Bremen (Germany) and most recently became a Permanent Resident of Florida (USA) to live with and be cared for by his family. He married his wife Christa in 1957 and together they celebrated their 61st anniversary this year.
After graduating with a business degree, he spent most of his professional life being part of the business team at Airbus Industries in Bremen (Germany), where he also contributed to the first German SPACELAB Mission D1 on board of the Space Shuttle. Since his childhood growing up on the coast, watching the passing ships and Keitelkahns (fishing trawlers), Hansjürgen had a passion for German ships, fishing boats, the North German coast and ocean. Together, he and his family vacationed each summer on the beaches of the North Sea Island Sylt, where he instilled his passion for the coast on his children. He was a longtime member of the Model Ship Collection Club in Hamburg (Germany). He enjoyed reading and exploring nautical history, enjoyed the outdoors, biking and hiking, and was also an avid bird watcher.
Hansjürgen will be missed as a wonderful and loving husband and father. We are his appreciative family and friends - appreciative that he left us with so many happy memories. In love and gratitude, we bid bon voyage to Hansjürgen.
A private memorial service was held at home with close family members.
