Henry Richard Hofman, Jr., of Sebastian, passed away peacefully on his 88 th birthday, December 29 , 2020. He was born to the late Richard and Gladys Hofman in Flushing, NY where he resided until pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering from Colorado Collage. Upon graduating, Henry worked on engineering crews building roadways over the Continental Divide into the Grand Teton National Forest and later on the Snake River in Western Wyoming. His career was interrupted when he was called to serve in the U.S. Navy. Henry spent his first year at Naval Electronic School followed by three years maintaining and repairing electronic equipment aboard ships on the Mediterranean, North Sea and Arctic Ocean. Upon receiving an Honorable Discharge, Henry utilized his experiences and began working at Barnes Engineering Company in Stamford, CT as a Project Engineer. Through dedication and hard work, Henry earned the position as Director of Engineering Administration and soon after became the Director of Instrument Development. After many successful years, Henry made the decision to leave the corporate life style and pursue his passion for woodworking and started a specialty woodworking company, in Guilford CT.
Henry was an avid fisherman and sailor which was often expressed through his talent for painting. He also enjoyed gardening and continued his passion for carpentry. Henry spent years as the Building Captain for his residential community and was a devoted volunteer at The Environmental Learning Center in Sebastian.
Henry is predeceased by his first wife, Cynthia and together leave behind three daughters and five grandchildren.
Henry is survived by his second wife, Diane Hoffman of Sebastian, his brother Richard of Colorado as well as 2 step children and 3 grandchildren.
At Henry's request, no memorial service is planned. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Environmental Learning Center, 255 Live Oak Drive, Vero Beach, Florida 32963.
