J. Russell Hengst, 89, of Barefoot Bay, passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at Sebastian River Medical Center. He was born December 15, 1922 in Imler, PA and moved to Barefoot Bay 25 years ago from Warren, OH. Russell was a master mechanic, and worked at General Refractories in Warren, OH. Locally he worked as a security guard at Grand Harbor in Vero Beach. He is survived by daughter Linda Hengst and adopted daughter Betty J. Szoka of Buckeye Lake, OH, and cherished friends and neighbors, especially the Malone family. He was predeceased by wife, Helen L. Gennet, and companion Mary Malone. Memorial services are scheduled for Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 10:00 am at Seawinds Funeral Home Chapel in Sebastian.
