James A. McPheters of Barefoot Bay, FL passed away at home on October 3, 2018, survived by his wife Ruth, of 65 years.

Born in Middletown, CT, James spent much of his life in Portland, CT.  There he owned his own insurance and real estate agency.

Jim served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War.  He was Commandant of the Marine Corps League, Barefoot Bay Detachment 918, where he was an active participant in the Honor Flights, Honor Guard and Toys For Tots.  He was also a member of the American Legion and VFW.

He is survived by his daughters, Pamela and Donna McPheters both of Florida; and three grandchildren, Melinda Cummings of CT, and Ryan and Adam McPheters of VA.  Jim was predeceased by his son, James E. McPheters of FL.
