Jean W. Lindsay, 98, was called home to the Lord on February 3, 2017. Jean was born in Los Angeles, CA and lived in Northern California for many years. Through her travels with her husband, ended up living in the Florida Keys.
Jean was predeceased by her husband, Doug, her parents and siblings. She worked as a stunt woman in the theater business doubling for many known actresses such as Jean Simmons, Dale Evans, and too many others to mention. Her last movie was in 1941 called Belle Starr. During the war, she worked in a defense plant in California and in her later years, did hostess work for her very good friend Marianne Cole of California. She was also a member of the Burbank California Lady's Auxiliary Fire Department for many years.
Jean is survived by her extended family and caregivers, Shirl & Bruce Vickerson of New York and Florida; her loving niece Dianna (Bob) Cummings, Pine, CO; her great niece Tori (Ed) DeCora, Houston, TX; her great nephew Erik (Lashelle) Lastufka, Vancouver, WA; niece Pam (Bill) Aumann, Manlius, NY; great nephew Craig Aumann, Austin, TX; great-great nieces and nephews, Erin Applebaum, Maddie & Ryley Aumann, Elizabeth & Hayden Lastufka. Also, her dear friend and caregiver Kay (Joe) Siringo, NY, NY; dear friends Jean & Roy Thompson; Maria & Don Roberts; Betty (Bill) Hubner; Joanie (Howard) Bailey; Marianne (Bill) Cole; her church family and her "TWO LITTLE KIDS", Briony & Dylan Weragoda.
After her husband retired, they traveled for five years in a truck towing a fifth wheel, along with their two dogs, with Jean doing most of the driving. They traveled the US, Canada, Mexico and lived in the Florida Keys for a number of years. Later, they resided in Sebring, FL and had a home in the North Carolina Mountains; they then settled in Sebastian.
Jean loved animals of all kinds. She raised Championship Dashaunds. She loved, rode and showed her horses, with her friend Joanie, for many years while living on the Lindsay ranch in Lake Isabella, CA. She adored her last animal, Keba, a feline. She loved adventure, riding motorcycles, dirt bike riding, fishing, hiking, camping, boating and even sky-diving at age 82. In her late 80's she bought a Schwinn Motor Scooter, for daily riding pleasure. She loved doing anything that she thought fun. Jean spent and loved many summers in Lake George, NY and also her trips to Colorado. Jean had a passion for sewing, making most of her own clothes and making beautiful rugs. She especially loved people and they especially loved her. She touched many, many lives and brought everyone lots of joy. She will be lovingly remembered by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.
A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 11, 2017, at United Church of Sebastian, 1251 Sebastian Blvd, Sebastian, FL 32958.
