Joan Labbe, 90, of Barefoot Bay, Florida, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She was a strong, loving, caring, and giving woman, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was an active member and volunteer in the Ladies American Legion, Moose Lodge, and multiple clubs in the Barefoot Bay Community.
Joan was born on February 26, 1931, in Portchester, New York, to the late Joseph C. Sr. and Jenny (Augustine) Laychak. She resided in Greenwich, Connecticut for most of her life before retiring to Florida in 1996. After graduating Greenwich High school, she married the late Richard Hawreluk Sr.
Joan is preceded in death by her late husband, Pete (Lionel) Labbe, and 2 sons, Richard Hawreluk Jr., Peter Hawreluk Sr, and her brother Joseph C. Laychak Jr. Those left to cherish her memory include her son David Hawreluk, daughter in-laws Jean, Jody, Diane, and Nancy Hawreluk; 4 grandchildren, Kimberly, Robert (Kristen), Jason (Lisa), and Peter Jr. and 5 great-grandchildren Michael, Giuliana, Benjamin, Delaney, and Abigail Hawreluk, sister in-law Yolanda Laychak, niece Lynda (Mike) and nephews Joseph C. III (Wendy) and John (Tina) Laychak.
We take comfort in knowing that Joan is now at peace.
We will always carry her memory in our hearts.
