Joanne Barnes passed away on March 26, 2025, in Sebastian, Florida. She grew up in Northeast Ohio and married her college sweetheart, Vernon Barnes, traveling with him as he was stationed at multiple bases while serving in the Korean War. After his service, they settled in Northeast Ohio, where she raised their family of three daughters and a son.

Joanne built a successful career in retail, managing boutique clothing stores and a Hallmark shop. She later co-founded a cabinetry business with her husband in Chicago before returning to live near family in Sebastian, Florida, where she resumed her retail career at JCPenney.

She had a love of books and gardening and stayed active with Tai Chi, enjoying time with her close-knit group of friends. Her family will always cherish the time spent together and her unwavering dedication to supporting her children throughout their lives.

She will be deeply missed by her sister, Nanci and her children, Barbara, Sandi, Cathy, and Scott, as well as her seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
