Dr. John V. Barber of Sebastian, FL, passed away on July 2, 2016. He was born in Grove City, PA on September 9, 1921.

John is survived by his wife, Judith of 41 years. Other survivors are daughter, Candace DeYoung (Rich); son, Dr. G. Vance Barber (Betsy), and Suzanne Barber of the Pittsburg area, and his brother, Carl and wife of Daleville, VA. Surviving grandchildren include Marcus DeYoung (Liz), Alyssa DeYoung, Gregory Barber and Anne Breaux (Chris); and two great-grandchildren Gavin and Leah DeYoung.

Captain Barber served his county during WWII both in the U.S. and overseas in Guam and Saipan where he was a photo intelligence officer. Numerous decorations were awarded to him.

John's early education high school and college were completed in Grove City, PA. He continued his medical education at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. General Surgery and Urology Certifications were completed at the Veterans Hospital in Pittsburg, PA. John retired in 1997 after a successful 40 year career in private practice as an Urologist in Greensburg, PA. During his years of practice he and his wife traveled extensively throughout many countries on their own. In 1997 John and Judith retired to Key West, Florida. During retirement John enjoyed caring for his beloved Yorkie, Alex, who passed away in 2010 at the age of 14. He also taught himself to become a gourmet chef, and really loved it.
