John Bernard (Bernie) Huseman, Sr. of Sebastian, Florida, formerly of Hollywood, Maryland and Clinton, Maryland, passed away May 5, 2015.

Bernie was born in Washington D.C. on September 9, 1931 to John S. Huseman and Helen A. Huseman. He attended Anacostia High School and later enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in January 1952. Bernie served during the Korean War. He worked for the Air Force for over 30 years, first as an aircraft mechanic and later as an aircraft mechanic instructor for the 89th Military Airlift Wing of Air Force One. Bernie retired from the federal government in 1987.

Bernie enjoyed following the Washington Redskins and Washington Nationals. Early in his retirement he loved fishing in southern Maryland and later in Indian River County, Florida.

Bernie is survived by his wife of 58 years, Phyllis D. Huseman, his sons John B. Huseman, Jr. and his wife Teresa of La Plata, Maryland, James S. Huseman and his wife Pam of Chesapeake Beach, Maryland, Denis M. Huseman of Felton, Delaware, and Daniel P. Huseman of Sebastian, Florida; seven grandchildren, Melinda Bowling and her husband Tom, Anthony Huseman, Jennifer Huseman, Carly Huseman, Hailey Huseman, Sydney Huseman, Paige Huseman, and also two great-grandchildren, Matthew Bowling and Elsie Bowling (who is named after her great great grandmother). Bernie is also survived by his sisters Gail Osborn and her husband Leo of Mechanicsville, Maryland, Judy Huseman of Alexandria, Virginia and Sherry Drechsler and her husband Ronnie of Pasadena, Maryland, brother-in-law Charles H. Pratt, Jr of Lanham, Maryland and many nieces and nephews.
