With our deepest regrets we announce John William McCarthy , 70, of Barefoot Bay, Florida passed away unexpectedly on July 10, 2020 with his wife by his side. He will forever be missed and always in our hearts.

He was born to the late William & Margaret McCarthy on June 23, 1950 in Bellefontaine, Ohio. He married Jean McCarthy on December 4 ^th , 1978 and they lived in the Metro Detroit Area until 2005. They later relocated to Barefoot Bay, FL in 2005.

John was a Building Manager at Bishop Borgess High School in Redford, MI until his first retirement  in 2???. After retiring and moving to Florida John began his second career with the United States Postal Service as a Rural Mail Carrier. After his second retirement John and his friend Frank Cavaliere started Holy Canoli Bakery in July 2018.

John was an active member in the Barefoot Bay Community.  His life goal was to help the less fortunate anyway he could. He had a heart of gold and his unwavering work ethic made him truly a special person.  He enjoyed golfing and spending his free time with his family and friends. He loved to travel and go to Jimmy Buffett concerts.

John is survived by his wife, Jean McCarthy of Barefoot Bay, his children Cassandra Kaplan, Carolyn Newell, Amy (Michael) Dunlap, Daniel (Lisbeth) McCarthy & Rebecca Cline. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Linda, Chase, Austin, Michael and Tommy.
