Obituary

John Henry Michaels passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 17, 2020 with his
family by his side.

John was born on December 28, 1932 to John and Lillian Michaels, in Queens, New York. John served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany as a military police officer ("MP"). During his military service, John was awarded an Occupational Medal (Germany), the National Defense Service medal, and the Good Conduct medal. John took pride in serving his country; and, he often reminisced about his service in the United States Army.

John was predeceased by his beloved parents, his sister Kathrine ("Chickie") Gertes and his son, David Michaels. John is survived by his wife of forty years, Christine Michaels, their children, John Michaels (Laurie), Diane Martino (Mark), Darlene Miller, Thomas Quinn, Deborah Kerekhazi (Erchie), John Mueller (Rochelle) and their 18 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

John was deeply loved by his family and he was well-regarded by his friends. In his
retirement, John enjoyed spending time perfecting his woodworking and creating
picturesque model railways for his collection of large G-scale LGB trains. John enjoyed
seeing the joy in the eyes of his grandchildren, family and friends when they marveled at his craftiness in creating the scenes for his model train collection.

A service will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2020 beginning at 3:00 p.m. at South
