IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joseph Steven
Vermuth
May 15, 1934 – September 15, 2025
Joseph Steven Vermuth, age 91, of Micco, Florida, passed away on September 15, 2025. He was born on May 15, 1934, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Joseph graduated from Roman Catholic High School in Philadelphia and later earned an Associate's Degree from Burlington County College in New Jersey.
Joseph proudly served in the United States Coast Guard for 21 years, retiring as a Chief Petty Officer, during which time he traveled extensively around the world. He married his Jersey Shore sweetheart, Maude Endress, and together they shared 64 wonderful years of marriage. After retirement from the Coast Guard, Joseph began a 20 year career with the State of New Jersey.
Joseph was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church, a proud Mason brother, a member of the Moose Lodge, and worked as a chef for the Garden State Gun Club. Joseph was also an active member of the Sebastian Travel Club. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, gardening, and traveling, and he stayed active well into his later years by participating in Silver Sneakers and as a member of the Indian River Fitness Club. He was proud to give back to his community through his work at Uncle Bill's Fish Market and as a dedicated volunteer at the Grant Seafood Festival.
A lifelong Philadelphia sports fan, Joseph loved cheering for the Phillies and the Eagles. Most of all, he cherished his family. He is survived by his children: Kimberly (and her husband, David), Sherri ( and her husband Greg), Michael (and his wife, Martha), Laurie, and Kristy (and her husband, Bill); ten grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. When asked how he would like to be remembered, Joseph said, "I tried to live a good life. I love all my family."
The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm until 4:00 pm. Friday, September 19, 2025 followed by Military Honors and a Prayer Service beginning at 4:00 p.m. Joseph will be laid to rest at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery.
