Lawrence R. (Larry, Butch, Dog) Doolittle went into the arms of the Lord on May 7, 2021.
He was born July 15, 1941. Larry grew up in Wallingford, Connecticut. He was involved in Cub Scouts Pack Five, Boy Scouts Troop Four, and Wallingford Junior Rifle Club.
Larry was a US Navy Seabee Reserve for a total of eight years and two years active duty.
He was a member of the Plumber and Pipefitters Locals 21, 267, 305 and 777. He was the operating engineer of Local 478 in Connecticut and the United Steel Workers.
Charter Member of Fraternal Order of Eagles 3907 in Fair Haven, VT., Lawrence was also a member of American Legion Post 50 in Castleton, VT and FOE 4527 in Micco, FL.
Larry is predeceased by his father, Lawrence R. (Duke) Doolittle Sr., his mother Mae (Mutzie) (Baer) Doolittle, and sister Bobbi (Doolittle) Cislo.
On July 1, 1977, Lawrence marries the love of his life, Joy.
He is survived by his wife, Joy, brother, Kenneth Doolittle, son, Matthew (Doolittle) Colms, step-children, Linda Joy Damron (Kevin), Tommy Stinglia, Nickie Stringlia (Suzanne), and Sam Stringlia (Jennifer), several great grandchildren, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
On May 13, 2021 there will be a military service with Honor Guard from the American Legion Post 189, Sebastian, FL. followed by a celebration of his life at Fraternal Order of Eagles 4527.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Vitas Hospice at 4450 W Eau Gallie E. Blvd. Suite 250 Melbourne, FL. 32934
