Obituary

Dad was a son, an only child to a single mom. Dad was devoted to Grandma Bridget but not her cooking! He once told me that he didn't know good food until he was in the army, and until he married Mom, the love of his life. Dad and Mom were always demonstrative with each other about their feelings. Kisses, hugs, touches, clowning around were a part of daily life. Anyone who knew or saw them together would realize those two belonged together.

My mom respected that when he came home after his shift as a NYC Police Officer that he didn't want to discuss his day. He proudly wore badge # 385. Before Dad retired he developed an interest in gold and jewelry. He and mom opened a little jewelry store near where they lived. Before retiring to Florida in 1988 completely they would have 6 more years together. Retirement didn't suit Dad well so he began volunteering at the Indian River Sheriffs Department, which would turn into a job heading the volunteer program.

Dad continued to nourish his love for animals, especially cats and birds. Our home always had pets and he took care of birds, squirrels, raccoons, possums, and even a skunk family.
Pop-pop adored his grandchildren and was very proud of their accomplishments especially his great-grandkids. It was wonderful he was able to spend time with them.
My dad was a caring, trusting, loving an extremely generous friend. He gave the shirt off his
back to many people.

I hope you remember this fondly, as for me he will always be my Daddy!
