Major Lester James Hill of Vero Beach, FL was called home to be with the Lord on July 31, 2017 under the care of Hospice. He is survived by his sons David (Justeen) Hill of Waterloo, IA and Rick Hill of Kansas City, MO and daughter Chelsee Hill of Vero Beach, FL, Brothers, Eugene (Betty) of Birmingham, AL and Keith Hill of The Villages, FL. Grandchildren Olivia, Alexis and Elizabeth Hill, six nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bruce and Pauline Hill, wife Roberta ("Bobbi") Hill and two brothers Norman Hill and Duane Hill.

Les was born in Earlham, Iowa and attended the Iowa State Teachers College, now University of Northern Iowa, in Cedar Falls, IA. He joined the US Air Force Cadets in 1954 and retired from the USAF Reserves in 1985. He joined TWA airlines in 1966 and flew transcontinental passenger flights until retirement. He enjoyed playing tennis and was an avid golfer and continued to enjoy watching both events when he became unable to play.
