Obituary

Linda Perry Docteroff, 71, of Sebastian, FL. passed away at home July 26, 2020, with her loving family at her bedside. She was born September 25, 1948 in Westerly, RI to Edward and Hildred Perry.  She grew up In Stonington, CT and moved to Pompano Beach in her teenage years.  Linda graduated from Pompano Beach Senior High School in 1966.  After graduation, she attended Broward Community College from 1968 to 1969. On May 3, 1986, she married the love of her life, Marshall Docteroff.  Linda and Marshall spent their early years living in Pompano, FL and their later years in Valle Crucis, NC.  Her 27 years of marriage to Marshall were packed full of love, laughter, travel, fly fishing, and entertaining.  Through it all, Linda was a loving and devoted mother, stepmother, sister, and grandmother.

Linda had many gifts. Her love and compassion for others never swayed.  While she endured a lifetime of physical health problems, the Lord gave her the strength to endure with grace and the resilience to maintain a positive outlook at all times.  Her faith in God was all encompassing and carried her through many trials in life.

Linda made everyone feel special and her love for her family and friends was unconditional.  To know Linda was to love Linda and she never met a stranger.  Linda was an avid gardener, expert craft maker, incredible cook, and enthusiastic card and game player.   And boy, did she love to laugh!  She loved to teach others and if there were children in the vicinity she would immediately settle in with them to start a craft or teach them a card game.  As a result of her keen interest in and connection with them, her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews adored her.  While living in NC, she volunteered at the Hospitality House in Boone, NC, and was a long-term member of Kiwanis.  She and Marshall delivered meals to the elderly all over Watauga County.  She was a member of the Boone Garden Club contributing to the many beautiful flower beds in Boone.  They were active members of Appalachian State University Booster Club and big fans of the Mountaineers.  She was also a supporter of the arts in and around Boone, particularly Jazz and shows at the Schaefer Performing Arts Center.

Linda is survived by her seven children: Elizabeth Stunkel and her husband Bob of Boynton Beach, FL; son Robert Youngs of Beverly Hills, CA;  Jamie and Bonnie Schaefer of Blowing Rock, NC;  Sherri Jaquays and her husband Rusty of Blowing Rock, NC;  sons Michael Docteroff of Tallahassee FL;  Patrick Docteroff and his wife Liz of Ft Lauderdale, FL; 7 grandchildren;  Bo, Ryan, Sally, Anna, Marisa, Chris, and Matt and her 2 great grandsons, Judah and Lennon.   She is also survived by her 4 sisters; Betsie Kubsch and her husband Jimmy of Sebastian FL; Mary Douglas and her husband Eric of Sanford FL;  Jane McCabe of Vero Beach, FL;  Sue Cosmas and her husband Rick of Oviedo, FL  as well as 9 adoring nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband Marshall, Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Hildred Perry, sister Anne Perry Reeves, and granddaughter Lauren Jaquays.
