Obituary

Lynn (Robbins) Etman of Sebastian FL passed away after a long battle with Alziemer's disease on February 9. She was 84.

Lynn was born in East Orange, NJ on July 7, 1936. She grew up in Lake Mohawk NJ until her family moved to Williamstown MA when she was 16. Lynn graduated from Williamstown High School and then went on to earn a bachelor degree in elementary education from the University of Massachusetts. She married her high school sweetheart, Robert Etman, on December 21, 1958. Lynn and Bob moved to Stockbridge MA where Lynn started teaching first grade initially in East Lee and then on to Morris Elementary in Lenox. She taught first grade in the same classroom for over 30 years eventually having children of children she had had as students. She was constantly taking classes to improve her teaching skills earning enough credits for a Masters degree. She was very involved in the Massachusetts Teachers Association and the National Education Association working to help her school and coworkers. When Lynn retired in 1994 she was the Head Teacher at Morris School. Lynn's daughter and both grandaughters went on to become elementary school teachers, proudly following in her footsteps.

Lynn loved crafts especially knitting, crocheting and sewing. She made beautful clothing for her children, grandchildren and even their dolls. She also enjoyed many outdoor pursuits with her husband including motorcycling, snowmobiling, camping and boating. In her later years she loved to take her grandchildren to the beach. She had 5 Yorkshire Terriers over the years that she cherished.

After retiring to Tupper Lake NY and Sebastian FL, Bob and Lynn volunteered at the Adirondack Museum and the Ocean Research and Conservation Association at Harbor Branch. Lynn was a member of the First Congregational Church of Stockbridge and also a long standing member of the United Church of Sebastian.  She is predeceased by her husband, Robert and her parents, Paul and Irene (Heckel) Robbins. Lynn leaves a brother, Whit Robbins (Pat) of Powell OH, a son Daniel (Therese) of Windsor VT and a daughter Melissa  Halliday (Sterling), of  Finchamstead, UK. She also leaves 3 grandchildren, Katherine, Madison and George as well as 2 step grandchildren, Cameron and Iona.

There will be a private memorial service in the future. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Alzheimers Association.
