Maria T. Marrero

Maria T. Marrero, 90, of Sebastian, Florida, died Thursday, November 14th with her family by her side.

She was born to the late Felipe and Trinidad Santiago on September 16, 1934, in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico.  She married Jose M. Marrero in 1953 in Puerto Rico and they later lived together in Brooklyn, New York before relocating to Sebastian Florida in 2016. Maria completed her high school education in New York and attended Manhattan College.

Maria was a devoted wife and homemaker. Her entire life was dedicated to her children and her extended family.  She attended Our Lady of Guadalupe church in Fellsmere until she became ill.

Maria is survived by her husband Jose, her daughters Maritza Marrero DeLeon of Vero Beach, Josefina  (Raul) Cuevas, Cruz (Elias) Cuevas of Sebastian.  She is also survived by her 6 grandchildren Alejandro Cuevas, Rolando (Grace) Cuevas, Jessica (Pablo) Cuevas-Gonzalez, Jose Luis (Mackenzie) DeLeon, Dr. Jennifer DeLeon (Clement) Marmorat of Virginia and Maria Rosa (Max Polun) DeLeon of New Jersey and 8 great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 20th from 11am – 2:30 pm at Seawinds Funeral Home.  A religious service will be held at 1:00 pm and an internment will be at Sebastian Cemetery at 2:30 pm.
