Obituary

It is with heavy hearts, profound love and deep sorrow we announce the passing of our beloved Maria; wife, mother, grandmother and cherished friend who left this world peacefully on September 29th, 2025 after a courageous six-year battle with pancreatic cancer. She defied the odds and kept fighting with strength beyond measure; her unwavering courage and resilience was a testament to the depth of her love for her family.

Maria was born on November 3rd, 1942 in PA. She worked as a laboratory technician in both the hospital and private practice settings. Raising her family in Philadelphia then moving to Sebastian, Florida where she spent her retirement enjoying the sun, surf and sand. Several summers were happily spent in scenic New Hampshire as well.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 58 years, Fred Vogenitz, her children Chris (Christine) Vogenitz and Kelly (Carmine) Giglio and grandchildren Jessica, Sean, Jase, Caden and Kira who will continue to honor her legacy of love. She was preceded in death by her son Keith Vogenitz, brother John Santijanna and parents Elizabeth and Samuel.

Fiesty and fun loving, her warm spirit touched the lives of many.  Her smile, smirks, laughter and hugs spoke volumes. Those who knew her loved her. Short and sweet with a big personality; our "Mamma Maria" made a lasting impression.

She found joy in life's simplest moments, and in creating special memories with her grandchildren. She particularly enjoyed spending time in nature: walking along the beach, gathering shells, camping, kayaking, fishing and gardening and she was well known for cooking memorable meals.  (Mamma Maria's meatballs). She was outgoing and sociable and enjoyed gatherings with friends.

Though she is no longer with us, her spirit will forever guide and strengthen us. We take comfort in knowing that her love endures in the memories we hold, in the traditions she passed down, and in the beauty she saw in the world around her.

As per Maria's request she will be cremated to allow her ashes to be conjoined with her beloved son Keith and the remainder scattered among the seas.

Maria would rather give than receive so in lieu of funeral services, and to honor her we ask that if you wish, a donation can be made to the VNA hospice house foundation where she received remarkable, compassionate care. https://foundation.vnatc.com/donate-now/

Thank you to all who have shared immense love, comfort and support we desperately needed during this difficult time.
