Obituary

Our beloved Marie Brumbaugh, 81, of Micco, died on Wednesday, December 4, with her daughter by her side.

She was born to the late Richard and Johanna Stewart on April 4, 1943 in Chester, PA. Marie graduated from Notre Dame High School and was Valedictorian of her class. She married the late Charles Wesley Brumbaugh and lived in Wilmington, DE, most of their lives, spending summers in Ocean View, DE, until they retired to Micco, FL.

Marie worked as a secretary for a colonel in the U.S. Army after graduating and left that job when she was married at age 20. By age 23 she had three daughters. Marie was bookkeeper for her husband's business, Brumbaugh Industries, Inc. in PA. Marie was strong in her faith and the Catholic Church community was her social network throughout her life. When living in Delaware, Marie was a member of Holy Rosary Church in Claymont, where she was a youth counselor, worked on the church bulletin and the annual church carnival.

In Florida, Marie went to work at River Grove selling modular homes and managing the office in 2004 and worked 20 years, right up until she died. She enjoyed volunteering at her church, St. Sebastian Catholic Church. She was an Extraordinary Eucharistic Minister, part of the pilot mission program, worked in the gift shop, cashier at the rummage sale, cofacilitated the Bereavement Group, Wings Glow program and closest to her heart was cofacilitating the WINGS program and her precious WINGS sisters. Marie loved to share her life stories with her friends in WINGS and Bereavement Group, in hopes to lift their spirits with her sense of humor and pass on her life lessons.

Marie is survived by her brother James Stewart and Sister-in-law June Stewart of Sebastian; her children Cathy Kelly and son-in-law Jay Kelly of Wilmington, DE; Elizabeth (Bette) Zirkelbach of Marathon, FL; Christine Brumbaugh of Micco, FL. Also, 6 great-grandchildren in DE that she wished she could spend more time with: Augustine Kelly, Leo Kelly, Veronica Kelly, Coramina Kelly, Elowen Kelly and Virgil Kelly.
