Mary E. McLean (Betty) passed away peacefully on June 18, 2015 in Vero Beach, FL at the age of 78.

Betty is survived by her only daughter Cheryl E. Parsons of Sebastian, her brother Richard Taracka also of Sebastian, and many great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Marion Seeley Taracka and Julius Taracka.

Betty was born on November 6, 1936 in Byram, Ct to Julius and Marion Taracka. She graduated from Greenwich High School, and was a member of the Redding Country Club where she participated in many golf tournaments. She was an avid gardener and could make anything grow. In 1996 she moved from Brookfield, CT to the Sebastian area.

Betty dedicated many of her years to rescuing and caring for exotic birds especially Macaws. At one time her house contained 14 Macaws which was why she was given the name "The Bird Lady". Her favorite Macaw was her first one "Harley" which she raised as a baby. She loved her birds and dedicated her life to them. The birds were her passion and always came first.

She will be dearly missed by her family, friends and beloved feathered friends!
