Obituary

Master Sergeant Oma D. Day, Jr. USMC (Ret) 88, of Grant, FL passed away on February 12, 2019.  Oma was born in Galveston, TX on April 29, 1930 to Oma and Dorothy Day, Sr.  He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Linda Day, his daughter Claudia Suski (Andrew), Linda's son Matthew Penn (Margaret), five grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.  He was predeceased by his son Dudley E. Day.

Oma enlisted in the United States Marie Corps. at age 15 and served twenty years.  He fought in Korea and for his actions received the Silver Star, Bronze Star with Combat V, and Purple Heart with one Gold Star.

After retiring from the Marine Corps in 1965, he was the founder and owner of two companies.  He established Oma Day, Inc., a government contacted maintenance and cleaning business in Springfield, VA, and a condominium management company in Melbourne Beach, FL.

Oma was a 32 nd Degree Mason, Chairman of Toys for Tots in Philadelphia, PA, member of the Alexandria Potomac Lions Club, and held a private pilot's license.

He will be laid to rest with full military honors in Arlington Cemetery later this year.
