On Tuesday, July 9, 2019, Patricia (Pat) Kara, a loving wife, mother and grandmother passed peacefully in her home at the age of 86.  Pat was born on July 6, 1932 in Providence Rhode Island to Arthur and Blanche Penno.  She was raised in Springfield Massachusetts, where she attended the McDuffie School.  She was employed for many years with the Town of Enfield Connecticut as a Dog Warden and she worked at the Suffield (CT) Veterinary Clinic retiring from there in 1993.  She lived happily at Crescent Lake in Enfield for 32 years and moved to Barefoot Bay Florida, where she resided for the remainder of her life.

Pat loved the active life at Barefoot Bay.   She participated in the "Little Theater" and the "Chicken Band" for many, many years and could always be found at the pool, playing shuffle board, enjoying Taco Tuesday or delicious meals at the Irish and Italian clubs.  She loved dancing, singing, sewing, crocheting and crafting, but most of all she deeply loved her husband Al and took care of him until his death in 2016.  Always the life of the party, Pat would make friends with anyone that she met.  She was fun, energetic and fiercely independent until the end of her long life

Pat is survived by three daughters, Liat Picard of Enfield CT, Cherelyn Owen also of Enfield, Ellen Lewis and her husband Jim of Tewksbury, MA, two sons, Daniel Kara and his wife Valerie of Upton MA and Joseph Kara of Enfield, CT, eight grandchildren, Todd, Shelby, Nicholas, Craig, Alex, Emily, Matthew, Allyson and three great grand children, Richard, Lincoln and Wyatt.  Pat is predeceased by her husband Elmer (Al) Kara, her daughter Kendra Punderson and her granddaughter Kimberly Owen.

The family would like to thank and recognize all of her close friends and neighbors who helped care for her and love her when she needed it most.

A service of love and remembrance will be held at the Concordia Lutheran Church, 300 Barefoot Boulevard, Sebastian, FL on Tuesday, July 16 ^th at 11AM.
