In Loving Memory of Paul Raymond Pieken
Paul R. Pieken, devoted husband and adored father, passed away on August 17, 2016 at the age of 89 in Sebastian, Florida, after a brief and courageous battle with cancer.
Preceded in death by his parents Paul F. and Florence (Koch) Pieken and brother George Pieken. He is survived by his wife, Royberta (Schmidt), Son: Paul R Pieken of Palm Bay, Fla; Daughters: Cindy Pieken Rogers (John) of Sebastian, Fla.; Susan (Pieken) Goodman of Bucyrus, KS; and Brother Walter Pieken of Little Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey. Grandchildren: Jesse Watts (Brian) of Overland Park, KS; Sean Rogers, Leah Rogers of Sebastian, Fla. Great grandchildren Aaron and Kate Watts, along with many cherished nieces, nephews and friends.
Paul was a graduate of Bogota High School and was captain of the state championship basketball team. During his senior year he enlisted in the Navy where he served for the duration of the war.
He married his high school sweetheart, Royberta, on Aug. 21, 1947, and enjoyed 67 years of marriage together.
Paul spent his working years living in Mahwah, NJ, working for the Bell Telephone Company. After 30 years of employment Paul and Puddy retired to Barefoot Bay, Florida, where they enjoyed over 30 years of retirement in the sun and sand. Paul was as handy as they come. He could fix anything which was a skill that was much admired by his family and friends.
Paul requested no service and no sadness on his passing. His family will host a celebration of his life in the family home in the near future.
