Ray Edward Seals, 93, of Sebastian passed away on Sunday October 2, 2016
Ray was born to Algie and Agnes Seals on August 21, 1923 in Adrian, Georgia. He was a World War II Veteran of the Army Air Corp. He and his wife, Jane, were married for 62 years prior to her death in 2008. They met in Orlando Florida where they lived until Ray's retirement from the United States Postal Service. Their retirement years were spent in Ellijay, Georgia where they happily shared their northwest Georgia mountain home with their family and friends. They grew vast amounts of vegetables in many gardens and took great enjoyment in sharing those with their family and friends.
Ray was an active member of the Seventh Day Adventist faith for 63 years. During those years he was an Elder, Sabbath School teacher and a youth activities leader. He and Jane helped to start and organize several new churches in the area around Ellijay, Georgia.
Ray was an avid sports fan!! He enjoyed and excelled as a softball player in his younger years, so much so that his son was almost born at a softball field in Orlando, Florida.
Ray was pre-deceased by his wife, Ida Jane Seals; his parents, Algie and Agnes Seals; and his sister, Margaret Peebles.
Ray is survived by his children, Barry (Cathy)Seals of East Palatka, FL; Rannell (Roger)Harrington of Sebastian, FL; his sister , Nancy Palmer of Palm Coast, FL. Other survivors include his brother-in-law Harry Peebles (Margaret), sister-in-law Elvie Swinson and Aunt, Ruth Story. Also surviving Ray are numerous cousins and an unknown number of valued friends made in 93 years of life
PaPa aka Grandpa was loved and survived by 5 cherished Grandchildren, 11 treasured Great Grandchildren and 1 Great-great Grandson who was a blessed gift in PaPa's last year of life.
A visitation will be held on Monday, October 17th from 6:30-7:00pm at Seawinds Funeral Home with a Memorial service immediately following at 7:00pm.
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting that donations be made to either the VNA Hospice, 1110 35th Lane , Vero Beach, FL 32960 or to the Holbrook Seventh-day Adventist Indian School, PO Box 910, Holbrook, AZ 86025-0860.
