Richard "Dick" Alan Hunter, 86, passed away on February 6, 2023 with his wife and friends by his side. He was the husband of Sherry Coulter Hunter of Templeton, Massachusetts.
Richard was born on October 13, 1936 in Gardner, Massachusetts, the son of Kathryn and Robert B. Hunter.
He attended Narragansett Regional High School until 1957 when he and his brother, Robert, joined the Marines. Richard is a proud Veteran of the Korean War.
Richard relocated to Boca Raton in 1968 with his then wife, Constance who predeceased him, and first 3 children. Richard started his own general contracting business in Boca Raton until retirement in 1985 after an unfortunate accident. He was a member of the Sebastian United Methodist Church on Main St. Sebastian, Florida and of the #189 American Legion in Sebastian, Florida.
Dick enjoyed bowling, fishing, traveling with his wife (Sherry), attending sporting events, making shell crafts, and visiting his favorite place, the beach. Richard would volunteer at the Sebastian Inlet State Park with his wife, Sherry. Dick and Sherry would also enjoy their 13 years of being snowbirds traveling to Lebanon, Maine.
Richard is survived by his wife of 15 years, Sherry Coulter Hunter of Sebastian, Florida; sister and brother-in-law, Elaine and Donald McKay of Hubbardston, Massachusetts; sister-in-law, Shirley of Athol, Massachusetts; 3 children, Bambi Connoly, Wanda Lane, and James Hunter all of Southern, Florida; 2 step-children, Thomas Coulter and his wife Lindsay Coulter of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina and William Coulter of Irmo, South Carolina. Dick also leaves behind 9 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and 11 nieces and nephews.
Dick was predeceased by his parents, Kathryn and Robert B. Hunter; brother, Robert B. Hunter Jr.; sister and brother-in-law, Kathleen Hines and Arther Hines of Templeton, Massachusetts.
The memorial service will be held at the Sebastian United Methodist Church (1012 Main St., Sebastian, Florida 32958) on March 5, 2023 at 2pm with light refreshments to follow.
