Richard Showers ,73, of Barefoot Bay passed away Sunday, March 20, 2011 at the Sebastian River Medical Center following a long battle with cancer.
Born November 15, 1937 in Plymouth, MI, Richard was the youngest son of Noel Showers and Frances Campbell.
Richard was a 17 year resident of Barefoot Bay and prior to moving to Florida in 1994 had lived in Union Lake and Algonac, MI.
He was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Richard worked as a design modeler for the Ford Motor Company and retired after 35 years. In his spare time he was a talented artist, sculptor and model ship maker. Richard and his wife Elizabeth traveled extensively; Mexico, South America, Australia, New Zealand, Spain and Great Britain were just a few of their destinations. Richard is survived by his dearest wife of 40 years, Elizabeth, step- daughters Elizabeth Lori Nickert and husband Dan and Linda Robertson and husband Bill, as well as 4 grandchildren and one great grand child. Also a sister Jacqueline Swanson and husband Herb and brother Noel Thomas Showers, along with several nieces and nephews.Cremation arrangements made by Seawinds Funeral Home in Sebastian, Florida.
