Barry, Rita-Lourdes, family matriarch, passed peacefully, surrounded by family, on August 26, 2015 at the age of 85.
Rita -Lourdes was born in New Rochelle, New York at the dawn of The Great Depression. She lived a life of highs and lows with glamour, class, fight and perseverance. In New York at a young age she was a telephone operator and model. Married in 1949, she and her beloved husband John moved to Florida with their expanding family in 1954. Socialite, homemaker and nurse, she did whatever was required throughout a life well lived.
She was the consummate hostess and loved to entertain. Animal causes touched her heart.
She is survived by her loving children Christine (Vernon) Pitts, John Barry Jr. , Lisa (Tom) Schwarz, Michael (Kerri) Barry and Richard Barry; adored grandchildren Bradley (Daniela) Pitts, Erica (Jonathan) Moody, Brittany Barry; great granddaughters Alessandra and Gabriella Pitts and many nieces and nephews.
Rita Lourdes was predeceased by her husband in 2010 and daughter Janine Marie Barry in 1992.
Mass will be celebrated at St. Sebastian Church, Sebastian, Fl with private graveside services to follow.
