Robert H. Kaiser, 91, of Barefoot Bay, FL, passed away on Monday, May 5,2014, at
Consulate Health Care in Vero Beach, FL.
Robert was born March 13, 1923, in Ozone Park, NY and grew up in Floral Park, NY, graduating from Sewanhaka High School where he was a member of the school band playing trumpet. Spending his working years living in Seaford, NY, with his family, he retired in 1995, moving to Barefoot Bay.
He served in the United States Army during WWII in the 36 Division, 143 Infantry, Company K., as a medic.
Prior to retirement, Bob worked almost his entire career at the New York Daily News.
Bob enjoyed bowling, tennis, golf, gardening, music and collecting stamps and coins.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Eileen Kaiser of Barefoot Bay, FL; two daughters Janis Helmka of Flowery Branch, GA and Diane Kaiser of Rockville Centre, NY; a grandson, Jason Helmka; great granddaughter, Emily Helmka of Lawrenceville, GA; sister Marilyn Benton of Suwanee, GA, and brother Harold Kaiser, of West Palm Beach, FL.
A memorial serviceis to be held at Seawinds Funeral Home in Sebastian, FL on Thursday, May 22, 2014 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. A second memorial service will be held at Dalton Funeral Home in Floral Park, NY on Friday, May 30, 2014 from 12 noon to 2 p.m. directly followed by a graveside service at St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale, NY.
