IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert Martin
Kunze
April 29, 1950 – February 8, 2023
Robert Martin Kunze Sr., 73, entered Heaven and the arms of Jesus on February 8, 2023. He was married for 53 years to his wife and best friend, Sandra. They were married on September 6, 1969.
Robert was born in Mount Vernon, New York on April 29, 1950 to Martin Kunze and Mary Kenrick Kunze. He graduated from Mount St. Michael High School in 1968. He was at times, an installer, a mechanic, and a lineman for New York Telephone, NYNEX, and Verizon, until his retirement.
Robert was an accomplished guitarist and bass player, and along with his wife, participated in numerous church ministries through the years. He and Sandra were two of the founding members of Nightwatch (Psalm 134) and ministered in the Mid-Hudson Valley region for several years. Their ministry continued after their move to Florida.
Robert served proudly and honorably for four years in the United States Navy Submarine Service, from 1968-1972. He was an Engineman aboard the USS DogfishSS-350, stationed in Groton, Connecticut.
Robert and Sandra moved to Florida in 2005. While in New York, they became members of the Christian Motorcyclists Association. In Florida, they were founding members of the CMA Chapter 3rd Day Riders, where Robert served as Road Captain. Road safety was his passion and he took it seriously. On their Harleys, they traveled to biker events to share the Good News of Jesus Christ. Their music ministry continued as opportunity arose.
He was an avid fisherman and loved being on the beach, reeling in the bluefish! His kids were little when he first put a rod in their hands, teaching them to bait a hook and land a fish. While in Connecticut, he owned boats, each bigger than the last, in pursuit of offshore catches! He also was a true mechanic, always fixing broken machinery, big and small, and taught his kids how to turn a wrench too! In addition, he loved to hunt, filling the freezer with venison. He taught hunter safety courses to young kids, including his own children. They learned gun-safety first hand. Robert always loved a good joke, and didn't possess one politically correct gene. He was a true and loyal friend; honest and trustworthy always, a devoted husband, who deeply loved his children, grandkids, and great grandkids.
He is survived by his wife Sandra; son Robert Kunze Jr. and wife Lyne, daughter Dawn-Marie Doland and husband Stephen, son Daniel Kunze and wife Brooke; grandson Aaron Cicilioni and husband Anthony, granddaughter Aime Patane and husband Adam, grandson CJ Kunze and wife Kim, granddaughter Katy Kunze, grandson Joseph Kunze; great-grandchildren Bruce Patane, Roman Innabi, Lorenzo Innabi, Inessa Kunze; two sisters Ellen Habich and Rosemarie Hegwood; and many beloved friends.
